First Chinese post-lockdown auto show kicks off in Chengdu

More than six months after the cancellation of various events due to COVID-19, the first auto show following the lifting of restrictions was held at Chengdu's Western International Expo City on Friday. The expo marked an opportunity for the public to get acquainted with new car models on the Chinese market, such as the Mercedes-AMG new series and the Byd Han Plus EV on display across the exhibition hall. «I just got married this year and want to buy a car for my family,» said one exhibition attendee. «The BYD 'Han' series is still quite attractive to me, because its price of about 200,000 Yuan (€24,451/$28,500) is just within my budget. In addition, the blade battery technology introduced by BYD this year has greatly improved the safety of pure electric vehicles.» Expo organisers had to observe epidemic prevention measures including an infrared temperature detection area and an arm disinfection area being set up at the entrance, as well as drawings on the floor reminding visitors to keep a safe distance.
