According to police the suspect arrested in Friday's stabbing attack intended to attack women, speaking to the press in Turku, Saturday. The attack left two people killed and a further eight injured. Detective Chief Inspector Crista Granroth stated, «In this situation we think it was more against women and the other man was helping and the other man who got also injured in this situation was... Еще trying to stop him.» She noted that those killed in the attack were both women and that amongst those injured were six women and two men, including an Italian, Swede and British citizen, as well as Finnish citizens. The police also added that the 18 year old Moroccan suspect arrived in Finland in 2016 and was in the process of seeking asylum. On Friday the lone assailant attacked pedestrians with a knife in the southwestern Finnish city's Puutori market square. The 18-year-old attacker was subsequently shot in the leg and later taken into custody. Police are treating the event as a terrorist attack. On Friday the police arrested four more Moroccan suspects in connection with the attack.
