Finland: Army and police take part in joint training exercise in Turku

Finnish soldiers, alongside local police and customs guards, conducted a joint training exercise in the port of Turku, some 350km (215 mi) from the Russian border, as the Satakunta 17 drills kicked off, Wednesday. The soldiers faced a scenario in which local authorities alerted the army due to an explosive device that was found in the port, explained Lieutenant Colonel Ari Mustonen, the exercise... The objective of the drills is to increase troop readiness and to improve cooperation between the military and local authorities in demanding situations.
