El Salvador: Hundreds of migrants join new caravan heading north

Around 200 Salvadoran migrants departed San Salvador on Wednesday, in a caravan aiming to travel northward to the United States. According to Salvadoran government estimates some 2,700 people have left the Central American country in caravans over the past year, with 600 of them returning home. Many migrants are travelling for economic reasons while others are seeking to escape violence and... Еще crime in their home countries. «There is no work here, as an older person is very difficult to get a job,» Juan Ramon said. Franklin Gutierrez, another migrant, echoed this sentiment, stating «I make this trip due to the lack of jobs, because of the crime, I travel to seek a better future.»
