Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that US President Donald Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel is «destabilising» and «counter-productive to the resolution of the Palestine-Israel conflict. Putin made the statement at a press conference held alongside his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo on Monday. «Russia fully supports all decisions, which... Еще had been previously made on the matter by the United Nations Security Council. We believe it is counter-productive to make any steps which can pre-determine the outcome of negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis. We believe that such moves are destabilising the situation. They are precluding the resolution of the conflict. On the contrary, they provoke a conflict,» said Putin. Putin travelled to Egypt to hold talks on bilateral relations and the security situation in the region. During the trip, Putin was to finalise a deal to build Egypt's first nuclear plant.
