Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi appeared at a Coptic Christmas Eve mass in the country's New Administrative Capital, some 45 km east on Cairo on Monday. Footage shows Sisi welcomed by Pope Tawadros II as they enter the cathedral to be greeted by worshippers.
Addressing the public, Sisi praised the relations between Muslims and Egypt's Coptic Christian minority which, as he said, helped... Еще the country to avoid sectarian violence.
An estimated 10 million Coptic Christians, one of the oldest Christian communities in the world, reside in Egypt. They celebrate Christmas on January 7.
