While most of Egypt slept, an impromptu protest broke out in the streets of Alexandria on Monday night as the country continues its battle against the coronavirus outbreak.

However, shortly after this, locals began to take their... Еще prayers and chants away from their balconies and down to the streets to shout and sing against the coronavirus, despite warnings from the Ministry of Health to remain at home and maintain social distance to prevent further spread of the virus. According to reports, police broke up the demonstration and arrested several of those taking part, and the march provoked widespread derision on social media.
The march occurred as Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his family have been spending two weeks in quarantine after coming into contact with a soldier who died from coronavirus-related issues.
Egypt is currently reporting 402 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which have led to 20 deaths in the country thus far.
