Egypt: Hamas and Fatah sign reconciliation agreement in Cairo

Palestinian political parties Hamas and Fatah signed a reconciliation deal in Cairo on Thursday, seemingly ending their decade-long rift. Under the agreement, brokered by Egypt, Hamas and Fatah agreed to cede control over Gaza to a government of national unity which will have to come into force by the 1st of December. The two sides also agreed that the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt... Еще would be operated by the guards of Fatah-led Palestinian Authority (PA) leader Mahmoud Abbas by November 1. Gaza and West Bank have been administered separately since 2007, respectively by Hamas and the Fatah-ruled Palestinian Authority (PA), when Hamas took over Gaza, sparking a conflict known as the Palestinian Civil War.
