Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry denounced Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital, saying in the interview recorded in Cairo, on Saturday, that it «does not conform to international legitimacy, to the resolutions of the United Nations, in addition, to what we have seen — the degree of violence that has been instigated.» The Egyptian foreign minister clearly stated... Еще Egypt's disapproval of Trump's announcement which «has not contributed positively to opportunities to achieve peace and the Israeli-Palestinian situation.» The minister pointed out that «all the members» of the UN Security Council also confirmed «their unacceptance of this development.» Sameh Shoukry argued that the principle of the two-state solution should be applied to «resolve the long-standing conflict» between Israel and Palestine. The diplomat said the League of Arab Countries, in its turn, would consider options «available to them» to seek a decision, which «best serves the interests of the Palestinian people» and would contribute to «the creation of their sovereign state.» At the end, the Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of Jerusalem to three monotheistic confessions — Judaism, Christianity and Islam — that «must be respected.»
