Ecuador: Clashes break out as protesters take to streets of Quito

Clashes broke out and tear gas was fired at protesters who had hit the streets of Quito on Saturday as part of the ongoing anti-government demonstrations. Footage shows protesters shielding themselves from tear gas, throwing projectiles and setting tyres on fire. Footage also shows a person, possibly injured, being carried in a blanket by protesters, while another man waving a white flag is... Еще running ahead of them. Ecuador plunged into a wave of protests amid social discontent after the government decreed a series of economic adjustment measures, including the elimination of fuel subsidies, in agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to obtain million-dollar loans. Protests led by indigenous peoples have turned violent in the last days, leading Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno to announce that his government would move from the capital Quito to Guayaquil. Moreno has blamed the mass demonstrations on former president Rafael Correa and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
