Drag queens deliver groceries in Lima for gay nightclub converted into food market due to pandemic

Lima's LGBT nightclub ‘Downtown’ has reinvented itself during the coronavirus pandemic, setting up a food market with home delivery. After the imposition of COVID-19 restrictions, the nightclub launched this initiative, in which drag queens are in charge of delivering food and other products at home. Belaluh McQueen, one of the drag queens that works in the market, explained on Friday that when clients “call and ask for the drag queens it is because they want to live that experience. They want to live that moment, and I try to make that moment unique and special for them.” Downtown Market has a license to sell essential products on its 600 square meter area, and they have implemented disinfection protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.
