Tropical storm Isaias reached northern Dominican Republic on Thursday knocking down trees and power lines in the town of Tenares.
Footage shows a firefighting brigade clearing a road from broken trees and damaged wires.
«A tornado came from the countryside area, and destroyed all the cultivation and took the wires off. It went through the tank and slammed the bushes and the tree branches,» said a Tenares resident.
Isaias was expected to become a hurricane on Friday, while approaching the US state of Florida.
