Denmark: Puigdemont arrives in Denmark despite arrest risk

Former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont arrived in Copenhagen on Monday to attend a conference on Catalonia, despite Madrid's warning that they would seek his arrest there. A day earlier, Spain's Prosecutor's Office stated that that they would seek to renew the international arrest for Puigdemont if he travels from Belgium to Denmark. Spanish prosecutors have requested the court reactivate... Еще the warrant that was withdrawn in December due to a discrepancy between Belgian and Spanish law, which could restrict the charges under which the former Catalan president could be extradited and charged with on his return to Spain. Puigdemont has lived in Brussels for three months. He fled Spain after being dismissed by the Spanish government following the Catalan unilateral declaration of independence on October 27, 2017. Puigdemont is facing charges of sedition, rebellion and misuse of public funds over his role in the push for the Catalan divorce from Spain. Mandatory credit: ACN
