United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited the city of Pilsen, in the west of Czechia, on Tuesday, where he joined in postponed commemorations of the liberation of Western Czechoslovakia by the US Army in World War II. He was joined by Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek at the city's Thank You America Memorial to the troops who liberated the city in May 1945. Pompeo's appearance was part of a five-day visit to several different European countries, including Poland, Austria, and Slovenia, during which he is expected to focus on the US push to block Chinese tech giant Huawei from winning 5G infrastructure contracts, among other issues. The Secretary is set to meet with Prime Minister Andrej Babis on Wednesday in Prague.
