A polar bear by the name of Tonja gave a birth to a cub at Berlin Zoo on Thursday, as shown in footage released on Friday.
The mother bear can be seen in a special enclosure licking and nurturing her newly born cub.
According to the zoo, the baby is about 30 centimetres (one foot) long.
Zoo officials also noted that though they are very pleased it's too early to celebrate as polar bear cubs... Еще' mortality rate is about 50 percent and that the first ten days of their lives are particularly risky.
Later it was discovered that the newly born bear had a twin who had died.
The polar bears Tonja and Volodya had previously lost another cub, Fritz, who died of liver inflammation at the age of four months in March.
