Thousands attended a ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Communist revolutionary Ernesto «Che» Guevara's death, at the Ernesto Guevara Sculptural Complex in Santa Clara on Sunday. In attendance were family and friends of Guevara, including Cuban President Raul Castro who laid a white rose on his tomb. Attendees were clad in T-shirts of the argentine and many waved cards... Cuban Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canal reminded the audience that Guevara's legacy lives on despite his death. «El Che didn't die as his assassins wanted, his memory remains over time when new generations of Cubans growing up under his legacy will recognise, understand, and assimilate his revolutionary ideas, his continuous commitment.» The socialist revolutionary was executed by soldiers 50 years ago in Bolivia, at the age of 39. Following his death Che became an international symbol for revolution and left-wing ideals.
