Colombia: Venezuelan consulate in Bogota vandalised and looted

Venezuela's consulate in Bogota was looted and vandalised, leading Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza to announce on Tuesday that his country will file a complain against Colombia at the United Nations. The diplomatic mission located in Bogota can be seen looted and vandalised, with pieces of furniture being broken and documents scattered on the floor across the premises. The incident represents a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations as Colombian authorities should have ensured the protection of diplomatic property, Arreaza said. The relationship between Venezuela and Colombia has been tense since the latter officially recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as Venezuela's new president in 2019.
