Hollywood actress and UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie visited Venezuelan migrants and refugees who are staying in Riochacha, on the Colombian-Venezuelan border, on Saturday.
Jolie was seen meeting Venezuelan mothers and children at the Riohacha Refugee and Migrant Centre, ahead of visiting the Casa del Abuelo, a centre for elderly homeless people which is also taking in Venezuelans who fled... Еще their country.
At the Casa del Abuelo, Jolie also spoke with Venezuelan teenager Esther Barboza, who fled her hometown in Maracaibo last November when she could no longer access medication in Venezuela despite being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
«You are so impressive the way you have taken so many of these extreme things in your life and you are so elegant and you are so thoughtful and you have so much strength», said Jolie after hearing the young migrant's story.
Jolie arrived on the Colombian-Venezuelan border on Friday, as part of a two-day visit to assess the migrant crisis, and is set to speak to a news conference in La Guajira's region later in the day.
She last visited the region in October, when she met Venezuelans migrants on the border between Peru and Ecuador.
According to the United Nations, more than 4 million Venezuelans have left their country due to the economic crisis in recent years.
