Thousands of Venezuelans lined up on Simon Bolivar Bridge border crossing into the Colombian town of Cucuta on Saturday after Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro ordered the partial re-opening of the borders.
Forming long queues, Venezuelans held up their IDs to be checked by the Colombian border authorities as they awaited entry into the Colombian soil.
Some however made use of adjacent trails... Еще to cross the border to avoid the long wait.
«There are many people and the bridge is not big enough for that many people and the access by the trail is difficult but fast,» said a Venezuelan who added he would pay 2,000 pesos (€90/$103) to gain entry via the alternative passage.
Maduro had ordered the borders shut in February to stop the international aid secured by the Venezuelan opposition from entering into the Venezuelan soil.
