The Colombian police force's Special Operations Group granted rare media access to its base and patrolling action, as footage filmed on Thursday in Cucuta and near the Francisco de Paula Santander Bridge on the Colombia-Venezuela border shows.
More than 60 officers, including many women, are tasked with patrolling the remote areas to prevent cross-border crime.
«It pushes me to make a... Еще difference in the national police. Not any woman assumes doing the things that we are doing here,» said Escofan Estefany Montano from GOES (Grupo De Operaciones Especiales).
The unit stepped up its operations after neighbouring Venezuela was hit by a political and economic crisis which added pressure on Colombia's border regions.
