Colombia: Pope Francis addresses crowds with President Santos with message of peace

Pope Francis gave a speech with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos to thousands of onlookers in Bogota on Thursday during a visit to the country under the motto “Let’s take the first step’’, in reference to the ongoing negotiation between the Colombian government and the country’s main rebel group. After Santos thanked Francis and asked for his blessing, the Pope delivered a message of hope... Еще and peace at the Casa de Narino, the President's official residence. «The more difficult the path that leads to peace and understanding, the more we must strive to recognise one another, to heal wounds and build bridges, to strengthen ties and help each other,» the Pope told the crowds. Pope Francis will visit three more cities in Colombia during his fifth homecoming to Latin America, including Villavicencio, Medellin and Cartagena, between September 6th and 11.
