Colombia: Marching indigenous groups reach Bogota

The first wave of indigenous groups from Cauca, a south-western region famous for drug-related violence, joined the national strike in the capital Bogota on Friday. They were supported by thousands of students from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. The Guardia Indigena del Cauca (Indigenous Guards from Cauca in English) claim that 134 members of their community have been murdered since... Еще Colombian President Ivan Duque took office in August 2018. The region has historically been affected by narco-trafficking and guerilla activity. Since November 21, the country has been in the grip of mass anti-government protests. Duque's administration has opened dialogue with the movement's leaders.
