Colombia: Hundreds join torchlit protest in Bogota over rape of indigenous teenager

Hundreds of people marched in Bogota on Tuesday evening to protest against the rape of an indigenous girl by seven Colombian Army soldiers. Protesters carried torches and placards during their walk through the streets of the Colombian capital, while chanting slogans against violence against women. The rape of an Embera teenage girl by a group of soldiers in the department of Risaralda was reported last week. The events reopened the debate about the vulnerability of indigenous people and the actions of the army in conflict areas.
