Colombia: Duque vows to 'correct' peace deal with FARC at inauguration in Bogota

Colombia's youngest elected president Ivan Duque was sworn in to office in Bogota on Tuesday, promising to «make corrections» to a peace deal with the FARC [formerly the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, now the Common Alternative Revolutionary Force]. The 42-year-old Duque said the corrections are supposed «to ensure the victims truth, proportionate justice, reparation and that there's no... Еще repetition in any place of the country.» He added «the victims of Colombia need to count on true moral, material and economic reparation by their aggressors.» On June 17, 2018, Duque secured victory in Colombian presidential elections with 54 percent while his main opponent, the former mayor of Bogota Gustavo Petro, who was running for the Progressive Movement, received 41.8 percent.
