Colombia: Coronavirus street theatre helps raise awareness in Medellin

Artists from the city of Medellin have created an original piece of street theatre to educate people on how to protect themselves and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Actors costumed as superheroes and equipped with disinfectant gel and face masks showed the population how to prevent the spread of the virus, while another actor dressed as the virus danced the rhythm of a band on Monday. Maria Antonia Perez, citizen secretary of Medellín, explained the initiative and stated that «by instructing the citizens we are reinforcing the change of habits, the citizens’ behaviour, and reinforcing the fact that we need to continue wearing masks, social distancing and hand washing.» Reportedly Medellin has only registered 741 cases, of which ten have had to be admitted to the ICU, while there have been four deaths with the virus.
