Colombia: Coronavirus border closure forces hundreds to cross illegally from Venezuela

Hundreds of Venezuelans were trying to cross into Colombia on Saturday after the country closed the border due to the coronavirus threat. Footage shows police Mobile Anti-Riot Squad (ESMAD) occupying the Colombian sector of the Simon Bolivar International Bridge, a border road that links the two countries. Despite the police action, hundreds of Venezuelans and Colombians crossed the border at... Еще illegal entry points. «That they do this to us is inhumane, that they do this to us is barbaric because they do not allow me to enter in my country. Here are the bodies of rioters and as you can see here is the normal flow from Colombia to Venezuela but from Venezuela to Colombia is totally restricted,» said a Colombian citizen who was trying to enter to his country. It is estimated that before the border was closed, about 40,000 people crossed the bridge daily. Colombian health authorities have confirmed 24 cases of COVID-19 so far.
