Dozens of protesters clashed with police in Cali, on Thursday, as hundreds participated in a national demonstration over labour rights during the pandemic.
Students from the University of Valle threw Molotov cocktails and other items at police across a fence from behind plastic barricades, as they used water cannons on the protesters.
They protected themselves behind a building corner with a graffiti message reading: «Not one more dead. We know how to defend ourselves. Murder a police officer.»
The Colombian Federation of Education Workers (Fecode) union called for the strike over the government's response to the coronavirus pandemic and the economic recession taking place in the country.
