Cold Danube dip at traditional Epiphany race

Over 240 Orthodox Christians braved the freezing waters of the river Danube in Belgrade's district of Zemun, on Sunday. Participants compete for the Holy Cross at a celebration marking Epiphany. The winner of this year's race was 15-year old Stevan Stoiljkovic, who also happened to be the youngest competitor. Prior to the race, Serbian Patriarch Irinej led a liturgy in the Temple of the Holy... Еще Father Nikolai, and consecrated the waters of the Danube and the swimmers. Commenting on his victory afterwards, Stoiljkovic said «this is great honour for me. I do this because of my love towards Serbia and my creed.»
