Chinese snake farmers make a killing off poisonous business

Zisiqiao, a small village located in eastern China’s Zhejiang province, has become popular thanks to its outrageously high number of snakes. The ‘snake village’ now has a ratio of almost one person to 3,000 of the slithery critters. The once poor area has become home to more than 100 snake farms, where residents can earn a living through breeding poisonous snakes such as pythons, vipers and... Еще cobras. The animals are bred for their meat and their body parts, which are particularly valued in traditional Chinese medicine. The village as a whole makes a profit of 200 million RMB (€25.6 million) every year out of the unique business.
