China: Xi urges G20 nations to strengthen response to climate change

Chinese President Xi Jinping called for G20 countries to strengthen their response to climate change, as he remotely addressed the G20 members on Sunday. «G20 should continue to take the lead in tackling climate change, We need to follow the guidance of the UNFCCC, and push for the full and effective implementation of the Paris agreement on climate change,» he declared. Citing China as the country with «the world's biggest clean energy system,» Xi pledged to be carbon neutral by 2060. «China will pursue clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient use of energy and accept the growth of new energy and green industries to promote greener economic and social development in all respects,» Xi stated.
