China: World's first 'trackless train' tested in Zhuzhou

The world's first electric-powered 'trackless train' took part in a test run in central China's Zhuzhou, as shown in footage filmed on Saturday. While regarded as a hybrid between a bus and tram, the train runs on virtual railways that are represented by white lines. With sensors, the Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART) system can determine the dimensions of the road and make a virtual track... Еще for itself to ride along. China's CRRC Corporation Limited, one of the world's largest rolling stock manufacturers, began developing the ART back in 2013, as a way to ease congestion in China's crowded urban areas. The train is seen as a cheaper and lower energy alternative to metro.
