China: Putin and Xi Jinping hold bilateral talks ahead of BRICS summit kick-off in Xiamen

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping held a bilateral meeting in Xiamen, Sunday, ahead of 9th BRICS summit in the southeastern Chinese city. Putin outlined that it is the leaders' fourth meeting this year and highlighted his desire to «welcome this opportunity» in order to «exchange views» on how the results of the previous meeting are being implemented. The... Еще Russian president described the talks that took place in Moscow on 3-4 July as «comprehensive». The Chinese leader shared the same outlook,saying that during that visit both presidents discussed bilateral relations and international problems. «It is good that our ministries and authorities have been working on implementation of all the agreements and achieve results,» he noted. Putin wished to his Chinese counterpart success in hosting the BRICS summit and extended his thanks for the invitation to the city of Xiamen. The Russian leader also noted that he had never been to that part of China before, and in his opinion the city looks «simply incredible» and «gives the impression of a booming city and region». Putin is set to take part in 9th BRICS summit which will be held between September 4 and 5.
