China: 'No result through pressure' — Russian deputy FM on N. Korea nuclear test

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that «no result is achievable through pressure,» referring to North Korea's latest nuclear test. He was speaking on Monday at the BRICS summit in Xiamen, China. «We deplore the illegal tests of missile technologies through rocket missile launches and that of nuclear device [sic] conducted by North Korea,» the Russian diplomat said. He went... Еще on to say that Russia and China floated a «double-freeze policy» in which North Korea halts its nuclear tests in exchange for the US and South Korea freezing their joint military exercises. The deputy minister assured that there are «peaceful ways» of resolving the North Korean issue. Referring to the closure of several Russian diplomatic facilities in the US, Ryabkov said that it has been done in order to «make us nervous» and «bring us out of a balance.» He stated that «it will never be achieved» since Russia «does nothing under pressure». The deputy minister expressed his hope to «counterbalance all the wrong things the US government has done recently» through «dialogue on the bilateral relations.»
