Beijing has been advocating a close dialogue between North Korea and the US to resolve the nuclear issue in the Korean Peninsula, according to Spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lu Kang during a presser in Beijing on Tuesday.

Lu Kang dismissed claims that Kim Jong-un’s visit was in any way related to the present China-US trade standoff, instead insisting on China’s role on promoting diplomacy in the Peninsula.
«We don’t need to send a hint via other activities,» he concluded.
Kim Jong-un arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a four-day visit. The trip coincides with the Korean leader’s birthday which falls on January 8.
