People queued at Beijing railway station on Thursday after coronavirus travel restrictions were eased for domestic travellers.
Travellers moving within China from areas assessed as low-risk for the coronavirus will no longer be required to self-isolate for 14 days after their travel, with those coming from low risk regions also not having to self-isolate after arrival in the capital.
Reportedly... Еще, the new policies will not apply for travellers from abroad or high-risk areas, like Heilongjiang Province and Guangdong Province.
Footage shows dozens of travellers queuing and buying tickets at the Beijing railway station.
Niu Heilong, one of the travellers, said, «I called the local authority in my town. They said it is okay to go back if you are not sick. I still need to quarantine but not in the hotel, rather at home.»
The move to ease travel from Beijing, Tianjin, and the neighbouring Hebei province comes as millions would typically be travelling the country over the International Workers' Day holiday period.
China has become the country with the tenth most coronavirus cases, with 83,940 people infected and 4,637 deaths with the virus as of Wednesday, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
