A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson criticised the US decision to tighten visa restrictions for Chinese journalists. Zhao Lijian was speaking at a news conference in Beijing on Tuesday.
«The US is escalating its discriminative policies against Chinese journalists that limits their visa under 90 days. It will disturb Chinese journalists work in the US. We express strong dissatisfaction and... Еще firm opposition to it,» said the official.
The new rule unveiled by the US Department of Homeland Security on Friday means that the length of work visas for journalists from mainland China employed by non-US media cannot exceed 90 days, with an option for extension.
The White House said the step aimed to achieve greater reciprocity between the two countries.
