Cinemas in low-risk areas of Beijing started to accept moviegoers again, starting at midnight on Thursday night into Friday morning.
«The last time I went to the cinema is definitely before the Chinese new year, but I cannot remember exactly when, it's just been too long,'' said one of the eager audience members.
As cinemas in the capital reopen, they must still adhere to strict pandemic prevention measures. Staff must regularly clean ticket pick-up machine, and seats, and other areas. A banner reminding moviegoers to maintain social distance has also been placed at the entrance to the cinema.
Customers also have to scan a health code to go into the cinema. Additionally, hand sanitiser is also available at the help desk for the customers.
As of Friday, Beijing had not had any new local confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus for 18 consecutive days, meaning that the entire capital is currently classified as a low-risk area.
