China: Baidu treats privacy as 'highest principle' in wake of Facebook scandal

President of New Business at Baidu Ya-Qin Zhang stated that the search engine considers privacy protection as the «highest principle,» at the Boao Forum for Asia, in Boao on Monday. Zhang said that «security and privacy are the prerequisite for us to do everything else,» adding «this is our highest principle, the centre of what we do — to protect privacy, to make sure that the user data [is... Еще] secure and encrypted.» This comes amid Facebook's data privacy scandal after it was revealed that the data of nearly 87 million users was compromised by a third-party firm called 'Cambridge Analytica'.
