China: Asia's tallest wooden tower burns down in Buddhist monastery blaze

A 16-storey wooden tower burnt down and collapsed at a Ming dynasty-era Buddhist Monastery in Mianzhu in the Sichuan Province of southwest China, Monday. The fire started at the Lingguan Mansion complex around midday local time. By the time the firefighters had the blaze under control, the pagoda and prayer hall had already been burnt out and collapsed. The authorities have launched an...
