Scores of students, youth activists and union leaders took to the streets in Santiago on Thursday, to protest against the Young Statute, a new annex to the labour law which restricts the fundamental rights of young workers. About 300 protesters chanted and marched through main avenues. Some protesters hurled stones, flares and Molotov cocktails towards the police, who in turn retaliated with... Еще water cannons and tear gas. Despite the tension, no arrests were reported. Approved by the Chilean Chamber of Deputies last week, the new regulation, which offers a special contract for students between 18 and 28 years old, was accused of eliminating the right to Sunday rest and holidays. The contract will also make up to 12-hour work daily possible for young employees.
