Chile: Smoke bombs and water cannons outside Argentinian Consulate in Santiago in protest for Maldonado

Clashes erupted as hundreds took to the streets of Santiago on Monday, in protest over Santiago Maldonado, after a body found in Chubut River was recognised to be that of the missing activist. Protesters marched on the streets of the Chilean capital towards the Argentine Consulate, with banners demanding justice for Maldonado. Outside the consulate, a group of antifa hooded protesters started... Еще hurling objects towards the consulate in an attempt to enter the courtyard. The protesters broke lights, burned garbage and sprayed the walls with graffiti. Clashes erupted when police arrived at the moment antifa protesters where attacking a public bus and dispersed them with water cannons. Maldonado, 27, was found in Chubut River in southern Argentina close to where he went missing on August 1. His disappearance was highly politicised and sparked a national outcry.
