Chile: Mapuche protesters march in support of indigenous prisoners

Mapuche protesters rallied in Temuco on Wednesday in support of imprisoned members of the indigenous community. They held banners dedicated to spiritual guide (Machi) Celestino Cordova and others, whom the group considers to be political prisoners. Demonstrators marched to the city's prison where Cordova has been on hunger strike for 87 days. In 2014, he was sentenced to 18 years in prison for an arson which killed an elderly couple in what his supporters describe as political persecution.
