Chile: Is this the world's smallest nuclear fusion device?

Scientist Dr Leopoldo Soto showed off what is said to be the world's smallest nuclear fusion device at the Plasma Physics and Nuclear Fusion Laboratory in Santiago on Friday. Under his supervision, the Chilean Nuclear Energy Commission (CCHEN) has been able to design the device at a low cost. «With this equipment we managed to reduce energy use by 10 million times less that of the world's... Еще largest experiment and 10 thousand times less than the smallest experiment,» said Soto. «If it allows us to do physics in the laboratory at a low cost, a physics equivalent to what is achieved in large laboratories, this can complement the research of the large laboratories in many countries with similar economic conditions as Chile,» he added.
