Protesters clashes with riot police, who used tear gas and water cannons to keep them away from the Moneda presidential palace, during a demonstration calling for the resignation of Chilean President Sebastian Pinera, on Wednesday, in Santiago.
The protesters were seen throwing objects at riot police who retreated into a truck.
«Every day it is more difficult to be on the streets, but we know that this is the only way we can force all this oligarchy and this rotten government to listen to us, to make sure that our demands are accepted and that in Chile, instead of just surviving, we can start to live, which is our right,» said one of the protesters.
Chile has been rocked by anti-government protests
since 2019, leading to a referendum in October in which citizens
overwhelmingly voted for a change of the dictatorship-era constitution dating from Augusto Pinochet.
