Truck and bus drivers barricaded the streets of the Bulgarian capital of Sofia on Thursday to protest the proposed new rules on the movement of goods and people in the EU as the EU-Western Balkans Summit was held. Drivers blocked the streets of central Sofia by parking their trucks along the Tsarigradsko Shose Blvd with banners and slogans against the new ‘mobility package’ and Macron’s... Еще proposed reforms for movement of goods and people in the EU. The new rules foresee Eastern European truck and bus companies to pay drivers similar fees as in Western European countries. They also impose a 45-hour per week limit. Protester Ilian Primanov said «the purpose” of these rules «is Bulgarian carriers to be driven out of the European market.» Protests were aolso held in Plovdiv, Smolyan, Varna and Vidin.
