Bulgaria: Thousands join anti-government protest in Sofia

Thousands of demonstrators gathered at Sofia's Independence Square on Wednesday calling for the resignation of the government. Activists waving Bulgarian flags were seen blocking key roads and chanting slogans against Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Prosecutor-General Ivan Geshev. Earlier this month, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev demanded the resignation of the government and the end to the «mafia way of ruling» escalating tensions between the Presidency and Borissov's cabinet. Protests against the Prime Minister under the slogan «Let's save the democracy» have been taking place since July 9.
