Bulgaria: Patriots honour kamikaze pilot who took down WWII bomber over Sofia

Patriotic organisations honoured Second World War Bulgarian pilot Dimitar Spisarevski, who took down a US bomber by ramming his jet into it, with a torchlit procession in Pasarel near Sofia on Wednesday. Participants marched from the centre of Pasarel to the spot where the remains of Spisarevski's aircraft and his body were found, laying flowers and holding a minute's silence at both locations... The kind of values and virtues to hold inside us so we can survive as a society.» Spisarevski is a revered figure among patriots and nationalists for taking down a US B-24 Liberator, which was engaged in a bombing campaign of the Bulgarian capital in 1943.
