Bugs with that? Pop-up parlour offers free ice cream with grisly twist

Passers-by got a free treat at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf on Friday the 13th, but with a gruesome catch: ice cream with a side of bugs. The San Francisco Dungeon tourist attraction celebrated National Ice Cream Month on Friday, July 13 by offering ice cream with a side of bugs such as grasshoppers, mealworms, ants and scorpions. The one-day pop-up was titled Miss Piggott’s (Not-So) Nice... Еще Cream Pop-up Parlor, a reference to the Gold Rush-era saloon and boarding house operator known to hoodwink her intoxicated customers. Among the various types of ice cream offered, there was the 'Spirit of Alcatraz', concocted from a black sesame ice cream with a drizzle of raspberry and grasshoppers and the 'Black-Hearted Beauty', made from coconut ash black ice cream with strawberry hearts and scorpions.
