A team of thirty doctors arrived to help treating patients infected with coronavirus in the largest COVID-19 treatment centre in the Amazonas state capital of Manaus on Thursday.
Many came from the same region to join forces with local staff at 28 de Agosto Hospital, as Manaus is grappling with one of the highest mortality rates in the region from the virus.
«In this biological battle the... Еще healthworkers are the soldiers that will be always at the front» said Doctor Gapanowicz, as he explained that physicians are learning more about the infection as they battle the virus.
Brazil reported more cases of infections and deaths than any other Latin American country, as the demographic and territorial diversity made it more difficult to control the outbreak, according to Gapanowicz.
«I don't believe the climate has changed the way the virus attack, but it is maybe different in the way the disease shows up and manifest» he added.
Brazil reported 126,611 confirmed cases and 8,588 deaths from COVID-19 according to data compiled by the Johns Hopkins State University, while as of Wednesday the Amazonas state alone has registered 649 deaths.
