Brazil: Supporters rally as Lula refuses to surrender to police

Demonstrators rallied in support of former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva outside of the Metalworkers' Union HQ in the Sao Bernardo do Campo area of Sao Paulo on Friday, following the former leader's refusal to surrender to the federal police. Protesters carried banners reading 'Never arrest Lula' as they chanted and listened to speakers such as President of Brazil's National... The former president was sentenced to a 12-year jail term for corruption and money laundering in a corruption case known as Operation Car Wash. He was convicted of receiving bribes.
